  29.    Until the A3000 comes out, I will call it vaporware.  It may exist in some
  30. forms somewhere, but unless _I_ can get it, it's vaporware.

  36.    I've seen many things demoed at computer shows.  I saw a nameless PC
  37. supposedly running some software, when in actuallity there was a VAX behind
  38. curtain #1 running the demo.  Appearance at a ComShow is hardly a guarantee
  39. that the product exists.  I made the mistake of pre-ordering a software
  40. package at a show (yes, I saw it run) and found out later it was probably
  41. 6-12 months 'til shipping.

  50.    Not true at all--I care a lot since I may very well buy an Amiga.  I'll
  51. still keep my ST, it's a cool machine.  But being able to put in a BridgeBoard,
  52. 68030 @ 25-33MHz, MultiPort serial board, easy GenLock stuff, etc. has pushed
  53. me to buy a Commodore (something I swore I would never do when I saw the Vic-20)
  54.  
  55.    And I don't think loyalty to Atari pushed us to domination by Big Blue.  In
  56. fact, just the opposite--our tolerance of Atari has _kept_ Big Blue from
  57. totally dominated with their antiquated machinry.

  59.    I'll probably end up buying an Amiga 2500 w/ accelerator, bridgeboard, a
  60. 25NHz 386 for Unix (unless Commodore's is good), and keep a decked-out ST.
  61. The best of all worlds.  An ATW is still a possibility, but I haven't heard
  62. back from whoever it was I wrote to in England yet.

  76. I don't think we're too far away from a North American release of
  77. Calamus Outline Art, so I thought (with ISD's permission) I'd post an
  78. important warning about it.
  79.  
  80. All of the compugraphic fonts are drawn as continuous outlines. For
  81. example, there are _only_ two paths in the letter O, one in the letter
  82. I, etc. Outline will work well only with these fonts -- otherwise,
  83. when it shows a font outlined, it will show all of the criss-crossing
  84. lines which you see in the font editor.

  86. If you are designing PD fonts, beware! Also, please put the hyphen (vs.
  87. dash), close quote, etc. in the same place as they are in the compugraphic
  88. fonts. Do _not_ use the free fonts supplied with Calamus as a guide.

  90. I have been beta-testing (and just using) Outline Art for a few months
  91. now, and it is an astounding program. I do not work for ISD, we just get
  92. along well.
